Hibs Take Tough Stance: Block Seven Fans Group Banned for Three Matches
Hibernian has taken a hard line by banning the Block Seven supporters group from their next three fixtures. This decision follows clashes between some visiting fans and police during the Scottish Premiership match against Dundee United last Saturday.
The timing is critical, as police have also announced that an additional ten individuals have been charged regarding issues stemming from Hibs' earlier encounter with St Johnstone last month.
On Monday, the club confirmed they would implement "appropriate action as necessary" while they investigate the incidents that transpired in the away section at Tannadice, where Hibs faced a defeat under new head coach Marink Reedijk.
According to Hibernian’s official statement, the Block Seven group is now banned from attending their upcoming matches against Falkirk and Celtic at Easter Road, as well as an away game against St Mirren.
This latest ban comes on the heels of a previous one-match suspension earlier in the season, and the club has worked closely with the Scottish Professional Football League regarding this matter.
The investigation into the events at Tannadice is still underway, and the club is determined to collaborate with supporters, Police Scotland, and Dundee United FC to get to the bottom of the situation.
Hibs emphasizes that they will consider further actions, potentially imposing additional sanctions on individuals or the group as a whole once their investigation wraps up.
The safety and comfort of every fan attending matches remains a top priority for Hibernian. The club insists that no one should feel unsafe or uneasy while supporting their team, and any behavior that jeopardizes others is simply unacceptable.
Hibs expresses gratitude to their loyal supporters and reassures them that the club will actively address any unacceptable conduct to preserve the enjoyment of the wider Hibs community.
