Shuffling the Sidelines: Managerial Changes in Football
Michael Duff became the first casualty of the 2026-27 EFL season, leaving his role at Wycombe Wanderers. BBC Sport is on top of all the managerial movements in the Premier League, Scottish Premiership, Women's Super League, English Football League, and National League. On October 10, Tom Hounsell took the reins at Wycombe Wanderers, stepping in to fill the void left by Duff. Just a few days earlier, on October 6, Michael Duff was named the new manager at Bradford City, marking a swift return to the touchline. On October 2, Robbie Savage made his debut as the manager of Peterborough United, while Pete Wild secured his spot at Hartlepool on October 1. In the departure department, Lee Cattermole parted ways with Gateshead on October 4, and just two days earlier, Robbie Savage exited Forest Green Rovers. September saw a flurry of managerial changes as well. On the 28th, Graham Alexander was appointed at Preston North End, a move that followed his exit from Bradford City the same day. Earlier in the month, Luke Williams left Peterborough United on September 19, alongside Lee Clark’s departure from Hartlepool. Paul Heckingbottom vacated his position at Preston North End on September 13, while Michael Duff's exit from Wycombe occurred on September 8. Glenn Whelan also made waves in September, leaving his post at Livingston on the 7th.
